Your first boat trip is approaching and you want everything to be perfect. Do not worry: with this quick guide you will have all the essentials without lugging unnecessary things. After hundreds of trips, we have learned exactly what makes the difference between a good day and an incredible day at sea.
The essentials: sun protection
The sun's reflection off the water multiplies UV radiation, so sun protection is priority number one. Bring SPF 50+ water-resistant sunscreen (we recommend marine-friendly formulas), sunglasses with a retainer strap, and a hat or cap with a cord. Even on cloudy days, radiation at sea is intense. A long-sleeve UV shirt is an investment you will appreciate.
Appropriate clothing and footwear
Dress in light layers: swimsuit as a base, a thin t-shirt and a light windbreaker for sailing (the wind at sea cools you more than expected). For footwear, the ideal choice is white-soled non-slip shoes or neoprene water shoes if you plan to snorkel. Avoid shoes with black soles, as they leave marks on the deck.
Accessories that make a difference
A dry bag or waterproof pouch for your phone, keys and documents is essential. Also bring a microfibre towel (it dries quickly and takes up little space), a reusable water bottle and, if you take seasickness medication, take it 30 minutes before boarding. Our boats carry all snorkelling and safety equipment, but if you have your own dive mask, bring it along: comfort always counts.
What you do NOT need to bring
Do not load up with large cool boxes (we take care of drinks), heavy beach towels, heels or rigid luggage. In our experiences everything essential is included (drinks, snorkelling gear, towels…). Skipper and fuel are hired separately from the base price. Check the details on our practical information page and, if you have any questions, message us before your trip.
